Schreiter and collaborators publish in Nature Methods


Eric Schreiter and his collaborators from HHMI-Janelia Farm Research Campus have published the characterization of GCaMP3, a new genetically-encoded fluorescent calcium indicator protein that shows great promise for imaging neural network activity in model organisms:

GCaMP3 was engineered partially using structure-guided rational design methods.  This work closely follows the publication earlier this year of several x-ray crystal structures of GCaMP sensor proteins by the Schreiter (UPR) and Looger (HHMI-JFRC) labs:
