History of the Graduate Program
The Chemistry Graduate Program of the University of Puerto Rico, Río Piedras Campus was established in the 1960s with the creation of an academic program leading to a master's degree in Chemistry. This was followed by the creation in 1970 of a Ph.D. program in Chemistry and the development in 1981 of a collaborative program with the Department of Physics, leading to a Ph.D. program in Chemical Physics. Currently, the Graduate Program has approximately 112 students proceeding from universities in Puerto Rico and abroad.
